Johnaé Elease is #FearfullyFashioned. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of online community, The Happy Joy. As a servant, singer, and writer, she uses her gifts and talents to win souls for the Kingdom. She credits God as the primary reason for her joy, happiness, and success.
Johnaé defines her success as having the ability to take the leap and follow God's calling for her life. Sick of playing it safe, Johnaé had to remove herself from her comfort zone, so she could pursue her God-given purpose full-time. Her story serves as an encouragement to those who may also be battling between their comfort zone and taking a bold leap into God's purpose and plan for their life.
What is your God-given purpose and how are you currently living it out?
As a writer and an artist, ministry through media and the arts is my God-given purpose. This is my way of fully utilizing my gifts and talents for His glory.
The Happy Joy is a faith-based lifestyle website I launched for young women last year. The idea came about as a result of my difficulties with verbally winning souls for Christ. I've always preferred expressing myself through writing and my art, rather than speaking. I also feel that being a light and leading by example—as opposed to just shoving scriptures down someone's throat—is the most effective way to influence people, so The Happy Joy gives me that platform to publicly magnify Christ and exemplify what living the Christian life really means.
What is your definition of success and stance on failure?
Taking the leap of faith to pursue my purpose full-time. Playing it safe had been my philosophy for the longest, until I realized that comfort in financial and job security was getting in the way of my destiny. Letting go of the control I had over my life, wasn't easy at first. It required a massive dose of blind faith in order to overcome my fears and doubts. But I will say this, the person I am today is totally different from the person I was last year. With God's help, I feel invincible.
If you could go back in time, what is one piece of advice that you would give to yourself?
Don't ever doubt God's promises. He says what He means, and means what He says.

What is one of your major characteristics that has contributed to where you are right now?
I'd definitely have to say my ambition, and shifting my energy towards ministry makes things all the more worth it.

The Bible, hands down.

To "fashion your life" means to clothe one's self with the Armor of God, and their purpose.

JUST. DO. IT.
