Tierraney Richardson is #FearfullyFashioned. She is the founder of She Is Set Apart, an online ministry that helps women to maximize and view their singleness from a Biblical perspective. In 2014, at the age of 22, Tierraney chose to view her singleness as a time where God has set her apart.
After discovering who and whose she is, Tierraney was able to silence and overcome the lies of the enemy to rejoice and thrive in her single season. By diving into the truth of God’s Word, she’s been able to see her singleness as God’s protection, because He chose to set her apart. Tierraney’s mission is that other single women will understand the same thing – that God has set them apart to be productive in their single season by using their gifts and talents for His glory and purpose.
What is your God-given purpose and how are you currently living it out?
My God-given purpose is to go and make disciples of all nations, as outlined in Matthew 28:19.
I am currently living it out in multiple ways. One way is by maximizing my singleness through leading She is Set Apart. Through this platform myself and my team have been able to help single women from all over the world re-shape how they view being single from a Biblical perspective.
In addition to that, I am entering my fourth year serving as an elementary public school teacher, and I believe that God has put me at the school to be a light to my students and co-workers. As a result, I have been able to connect other Christian educators through a new online community I co-founded called Faith Driven Educators.
I also have a personal blog, MissTierraney.com, where I share my life experiences to help others by creating content about faith, lifestyle and teaching.
Lastly, as the founder and Cheerleading Director for Grit and Grace Cheer, I coach other young girls in cheerleading while also sharing Christ with them.
What is one of the biggest challenges you had to overcome to pursue your God-given purpose and goals?
As a Type-A person who loves to plan everything out from beginning to end, I have had to learn that God is in control. He knows the plans He has for me even when I don’t. I've had to learn to trust in Him, knowing that if I am truly walking in His will, He will surely be with me every step of the way and through the end. Scripture says, “You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail” (Proverbs 19:21).
What is your definition of success and stance on failure?
I definitely define success from a Biblical perspective, which is to be in God’s will. Failure occurs when I’m trying to do something in my own strength instead of working with God to help me be successful. I also view failure as an opportunity to learn from my mistakes and use them to improve and do better in the future.
If you could go back in time, what is one piece of advice that you would give to yourself?
Pursue a personal relationship with God. I didn’t discover this until right before my senior year of college. Growing up I knew church, but I didn’t know God. Scripture says in Matthew 7:21-23,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"
Therefore, I would tell my younger self and any other young people that being a Christian is more than just having good morals and consistently going to church. You need a personal relationship with God, meaning that you need to read your Bible daily, pray and spend time talking to Him and listening to what He has to say. You need to know God for yourself.
What is one of your major characteristics that has contributed to where you are right now?
I have a very strong work ethic. For example, when God gave me the vision for the She is Set Apart Conference for Single women, it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for His grace and my strong work ethic. I didn’t have a team at the time, other than my weekly blog contributors, and they lived all over the world. So, I was basically in Houston working solo to book speakers, find a venue, plan the structure of the event, host the event & etc. If I have a vision of something and God gives me the green light to move forward with it, I am 100% dedicated to working very hard to make it a reality.
What is your go-to bible verse that keeps you going?
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” - Colossians 1:16
This verse reminds me that through Him, I have the strength to accomplish the plans He has for me, and "for Him" means that He is my motivation for all that I do, and nothing should be done out of selfish ambition but only to bring Him glory and point others back to Him.
Mantra or words to live by.
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
This quote specifically reminds me that if God has given me an assignment, don’t make excuses. If He has given you the assignment, He’s given you the ability to do what you can with the resources you have right where you are.

What’s your favorite personal or spiritual development book/blog?
My favorite book is Crazy Love by Francis Chan. This book inspired me to keep an eternity focused mind, to keep growing spiritually as a Christian, and to deepen my relationship with God.
Define what "fashion your life” means to you.
Fashion your life to me is a call to live a purpose driven life. It means that everything you do is done with purpose. As I mentioned previously, we know that our purpose is outlined in Matthew 28:19. With that said, if we have fashioned our life according to God’s purpose, that means everything we do is done with the end goal of spreading the gospel to make more disciples.
What advice would you give to women who are also looking to fashion their life according to God’s purpose and plan?
In order to walk in purpose you have to know God for yourself and have a relationship with Him. He is the one who created us, and He tells us what we were created for. So as we look to make plans and begin projects, we need to stop and recognize that a good idea is not always a God-idea. Therefore, we need to make a conscious decision to take our dreams and visions to God first for His approval. Also, always remember that you can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail (Proverbs 19:21).
What does it mean to know that you are #FearfullyFashioned?
To be Fearfully Fashioned to me means to have confidence that I am chosen by God and to know that I am loved, chosen, wanted, valued, pursued and set apart for his glory.
